Everything Changes ©Jerry Axson Everything changes, nothing stays the same, the only constant I know of, is my humble name, people that I loved - and people who loved me, we move in different circles now, and we don’t make time to see... That everything changes, and you can bet your last dime, there ain't always good reason, and it won’t be the last time, that everything changes, you’re left dancing in the wind, and just when you think you’re landing - it all changes again... Everything changes, nothing stays the same, we used to be so good together - now there’s a strain on these chains, no, we don’t talk about it, we probably never will, let’s just put this behind us now, up and over the next hill...

Silence Is Golden (I Only Scream When I’m In Pain) ©Jerry Axson Momma got married, more times than I could count, what she lacked in wisdom, she made up for in doubt, Daddy was a stranger, left me with the hand that I was dealt, God knows I forgive them both, it goes beyond my help... Silence is golden - (silence is golden...) I only scream when I’m in pain, (don’t make a sound...) from the tiny breaks on my heart, (silence is golden...) to the dull ache in my brain... (you might be found...) I’m not one for being beholden, to the fabric of the human stain, silence is golden - (silence is golden...) I only scream when I’m in pain... (don’t make a sound...) We moved a lot when I was younger, I never saw the same place twice, spent a lot of time just writing it down, left to my own device, I keep a room in my soul now, a place where I can go, to face down all those demons, and things you don’t want to know...

A Heart Untouched by Human Hands (6AM Song) (2016 Remix) ©Jerry Axson I took a job at night, we need the extra cash, it sure comes in handy, because it goes out fast, I don’t mind the late hours, just a bad run of luck, there’s something about 6 AM just as the sun is coming up - and it’s a long drive home, I’ve got this time to kill, this old car keeps rolling on - with one dumb fool behind the wheel... You see you told me that you loved me - and I told you I was your man, now watch as I discover, the painful truth about where I stand, you hide your love - away from me - yet give yourself - to any man... I’m waking up - at 6 AM - to a heart untouched - by human hands... I took a job at night, I need this time away, to get my head on straight, give my heart a break, I don’t mind the late hours, just a bad run of luck, there’s something about 6 AM just as the sun is coming up -

about

“Songs My Father Would Not Sing To Me” was my first attempt at composing Country and Contemporary Country music. It was obviously a very personal project as you can tell by the title, created at a time just after I had heard of his death there was a lot of emotion running through me. A little bitter and feeling a tremendous sense of loss over a relationship that never had a chance I think I had a strong desire to prove to my Father that I was capable of creating something he would approve of – music of a type that he loved. Although this project was a bit heavy handed it did pave the way for “Out The Gate And Down The Road” and that led to one of my favorite bodies of work I have produced – “90 Days Out”, so you see all things can work together toward something good. “Everything Changes” was actually written about someone I knew whom I thought the world of but over time revealed themselves to be someone I did not know after all. It’s a good song, well constructed and allowed me to put my acoustic guitar to good use which is something I rarely do since I am an electric player by nature. “Silence Is Golden” is about myself and my upbringing, moving from town to town, step-fathers, my Mother, the song pretty much details how I grew up and why I’m like I am, (yikes!). Possibly one of my favorite compositions both lyrically and musically is “A Heart Untouched By Human Hands (6 am Song)”. This is a song about realizing the truth of a relationship and facing that truth head on. It’s not a happy song but it’s a real song about how things sometimes turn out in our lives.

about

Jerry Axson Columbia, South Carolina

To me simplicity is the root of all great thoughts. The secret thrill for me, the architect, is delivering that thought with unobtrusive complexity. Writing songs and composing music satisfy my soul and because of this I know exactly what I am designed to do, it’s just that simple. - Jerry Axson ... more
